Bringing Spark Interactive to life took an ambitious vision — and a team of partners who knew how to make it work. Last month, that collaboration earned industry recognition when Spark Interactive won a Commercial Integrator Award for Best K-12 Project alongside Electrosonic and our incredible team of partners.
While the Legacy of Light team has been busy rolling Spark Interactive out to schools across San Diego County, Founding Director Darren Schwartz took a quick trip to Denver last month to accept the award, which recognizes innovation and excellence in AV design and performance.
This honor not only celebrates the collaboration and hard work that helped turn the vision for Spark Interactive into an immersive experience, but also the incredible team that brought its audiovisual and technology expertise to the interactive exhibits, digital storytelling and other elements students now engage with inside the mobile classroom.
Doing all of that inside the back of a semi-truck presented an unusual engineering challenge. Spark Interactive needed to transform from a road-ready vehicle into a technology-rich learning environment, requiring the team to carefully account for everything from power consumption to the weight and placement of audiovisual equipment.
Working alongside Mobility Resource Associates, Unified Field and Yazdani Studios, Electrosonic engineered a centralized control system that enables the exhibit to power up efficiently and operate smoothly wherever Spark Interactive goes.
From an LED wall that transforms the vehicle into a functional exhibit to carefully designed audio environments and interactive touchscreens and displays, our partners helped integrate the technology that powers the experience.
“Technology shouldn’t replace human connection, it should enhance it,” Electrosonic shared in a recent LinkedIn post highlighting the project. “Spark Interactive uses AV technology to create a space where educators and students can engage in meaningful dialogue, reject intolerance and build a more compassionate future.”
The Commercial Integrator Award recognizes the innovation that went into building Spark Interactive, but seeing students step inside and engage with the finished experience is what brings that work full circle.
A huge thank you to Electrosonic for putting Spark Interactive forward for this recognition, Sean McChesney for joining Darren in Denver to accept the award, and all of our amazing partners whose expertise and collaboration helped bring Spark Interactive to life.
