The San Diego Union-Tribune featured Spark Interactive in a May 5 article that appeared on the front page of the newspaper’s Local section, highlighting the launch of the mobile Holocaust education experience and its plans to bring immersive learning directly to schools throughout San Diego County.

Legacy of Light gave reporter Maura Fox exclusive access to Spark Interactive’s soft launch at La Jolla Country Day School, where she had the opportunity to see students engage with the experience for the first time.

Fox’s story explored how Spark Interactive uses digital technology and interactive exhibits to help students understand the Holocaust and its relevance today, speaking with students about what stood out to them. She also interviewed Founding Director Darren Schwartz, who described the program as a “reverse field trip” designed to make Holocaust education more accessible.

Beyond the mobile exhibit, Fox highlighted Legacy of Light’s broader efforts to strengthen Holocaust education, including the Academy of Critical Thinkers, which equips educators with tools to teach Holocaust history. Fox also spoke with Carlsbad High School teacher Jack Packer about how he helps students think critically, recognize bias and connect historical lessons to current events.
