ABC 10 News reporter Jared Aarons got an exclusive tour of Spark Interactive following its public launch.
The story that aired on May 13 highlighted how the mobile classroom uses immersive technology, interactive exhibits and digital storytelling to bring Holocaust education directly to students across San Diego County.
The feature included interviews with Founding Director Darren Schwartz and Holocaust survivor Lou Pechi, who discussed the importance of finding new ways to preserve survivors' stories and engage younger generations with lessons from the Holocaust.
“It's been millions of years, and we kept history alive by carving stuff in stone. Now we carve it in pixels,” Pechi told ABC 10.
And Spark’s reach is only growing, with partnerships across five local school districts, plans to bring the experience to community organizations and an Academy of Critical Thinkers helping educators bring lessons from the Holocaust into their own classrooms.
