FOX 5/KUSI | Sept. 15, 2026
FOX 5/KUSI visited Spark Interactive at Canyon Hills High School in Tierrasanta on Sept. 15, where around 200 students explored the mobile Holocaust education experience during its first stop in the San Diego Unified School District.
Reporter Ed Lenderman kicked off coverage with live interviews featuring Founding Director Darren Schwartz during KUSI’s 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. newscasts, followed by a feature story that aired throughout the day.
Lenderman spoke with students about their experiences, including one sophomore who praised the program's visual and interactive approach to learning.
Founding Director Darren Schwartz emphasized the importance of teaching young people critical thinking skills, particularly as Holocaust education remains limited in many school districts.
“We need to teach youngsters critical thinking,” Schwartz told FOX 5/KUSI. “It's more important now than ever.”
The report also highlighted Spark Interactive's mission to expand access to Holocaust education, regardless of where students live or attend school.
