Times of San Diego Highlights Spark Interactive’s Launch and Community Support

Times of San Diego | May 3, 2026

Times of San Diego covered Spark Interactive’s official launch on May 3, where Holocaust survivors, community leaders and elected officials gathered to celebrate the unveiling of the mobile Holocaust education experience at Montgomery Field.

Founder and editor Chris Jennewein highlighted how Spark Interactive brings Holocaust education directly to schools and community centers through immersive technology, including interactive video walls that help students explore the history of the Holocaust and its relevance today.

Founding Director Darren Schwartz spoke about the importance of preserving Holocaust history for future generations, while San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria reflected on his own childhood connection to a Holocaust survivor and the responsibility to ensure those stories are never forgotten.

Gloria praised the Spark Interactive project because it “will help us keep the promise to never forget and inspire all of us to make sure never again,” he told the Times of San Diego.

The story also spotlighted the community support behind Spark Interactive, including a multimillion-dollar lead gift from philanthropist Lee Goldberg and contributions from the Prebys Foundation.
